Getting a good night's sleep is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health, energy levels and overall wellbeing.

Even if you are more a bit more of a night owl, there are plenty of things you can do to help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer - avoiding screens, removing sources of light, not eating or drinking coffee/tea too late.

If you still have a problem, try the meditation below - it's one we've used a lot and it's good for those times when your anxiety levels are higher than you want them to be and you find your mind racing.
It doesn't take long to move through these five steps but it will be just what you need to bring yourself into the present moment.

5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique:

- Find five things that you can see.

- Four things that you can touch.

- Three things that you can hear.

- Two things that you can smell.

- One thing that you can taste.

Don't rush through these stages, really pay attention to the sense that you are experiencing - for example; Four things that you can touch - how does it feel ? Hard? Soft? Smooth?

BREATH AWARENESS MEDITATION.

Becoming aware of your breath is one of the foundation stones of a lot of forms of meditation as well as ancient practices such as Yoga, Qi Gong and Tai Chi.
The breath is what connects us to every living thing on this planet, it is the basis for life and our link to the now, to this moment.
A simple breath awareness meditation is to find a place where you can sit or lie.

Close your eyes and gently bring your awareness to your breath.
Follow your breath as you breath in through your nose (if you have a blocked nose then through the mouth is fine), feel as it expands your belly and your lungs. Pause a moment and release, being aware of your breath leaving your body.

Repeat this process, being aware of the in and out breath, the same breath that connects us to every living being.

On this Feel-Good Friday it's useful to remember that in order to be the best version of yourself, you need to love yourself first!
"You cannot pour from an empty cup" is one of our favourite teachings - acts of service and kindness to others is increasingly needed in the world we are living in, and the best way to be of service to others is by ensuring that you are in a fit enough state to be able to offer that service, that kindness.

So this evening do something that makes you feel good, and you may very well find that feeling rubs off on those around you!
